The crowdfunding in early 2022 failed due to our calculated price, which was way to high, based on one-by-one handcrafted production in Germany. But that’s okay, we learn and proceed further. Unfortunately we had some troubles with possible producers in the past, even while only discussing a possible cooperation. Now, we are in talks with Portuguese manufactures and it is looking good so far.
We hope we can share some more news soon. Thanks for hanging on to us!
Aus Einer Idee
Wenig Platz, teurer Platz. Die Elephant Cargo Fork (ECF) ist das Ergebnis aus einem Produktdesign-Bachelor über Last-Transport per Fahrrad in urbanen Gegenden, dicht besiedelt und kaum Freiraum. Auf dieser Grundlage entstand eine kompakte Adapter-Lösung für das eigene, bisherige Fahrrad. So bleibt die doppelte Belastung, finanziell und räumlich, aus. Durch die vielseitige Kombination mehrerer Nutzungs-Szenerien: Das Cargo-Bike im Pendler-Rad.
Born As An Idea
Limited space, expensive space. The Elephant Cargo Fork (ECF) is the result of a product design bachelor’s degree in cargo transport by bicycle in urban areas, densely populated and hardly any open space. On this basis, a compact adapter solution for the own, previous bike was created. This avoids the double burden, financial and spatial. Through the versatile combination of several usage scenarios: the cargo bike in the commuter bike.
Individuell
Für Fahrrad-Nerds im Stadtgebiet. Die ECF ist bestimmt nicht jedermenschs Sache: MessangerInnen, Kuriere, liebende FahrradfahrerInnen. Es ist wohl eher eine Möglichkeit zu einem Custom-Build, nichts von der Stange also. Zum Adapter-Kit muss schließlich auch ein Rahmen, Räder, Schaltung, Sattel, Lenker und die ganzen Kleinigkeiten. Und dann bleibt noch die Frage: Passt das überhaupt!? Man muss schon eine gewisse Begeisterung für Fahrräder mit sich bringen – das, oder man hat eine/n vertraute/n FahrradmechanikerIn. Es ist eine etwas größere Modifikation die Gabel so zu tauschen, es bietet sich also an, falls die nötige Kenntnis fehlt, sich Hilfe zu besorgen.
Individually
For bike enthusiasts in urban surroundings. Surely the ECF is not everyones piece: messengers, couriers, loving biker dudes and dudines. It’s more likely to be a possibility for a custom build, nothing standard. The kit also needs a frame, wheels, shifting, saddle, bars and all the tiny bits. Remaining keeps: Does this even fit? You probably have to have a certain passion for bikes – or you just have the right mechanic on hand. It quite a big modification on your bike, changing the fork like this. So if you’re missing the right skill, just get some help of a professional.
Vielseitig
Dank der klappbaren Plattform ist das Rad so schmal wie ein herkömmliches Fahrrad, dennoch findet eine Eurobox, 600x400mm, darauf Platz. Mit vielen Möglichkeiten, einen Spanngurt anzubringen, können individuelle Paketmaße sicher montiert werden. Zudem können eingeklappt zwei kleinere Radtaschen angehängt werden. So ist für alle Möglichkeit gesorgt.
Versatile
Thanks the foldable platform, the bike is as wide as a standard bicycle and even so does fit a standard 600x400mm Eurobox. With many mounting points for tensioners you can fit a big variety of package-sizes. On top, folded up two smaller commuter bags can be attached to it. So all purposes are getting served.
